Micky van de Ven sustains injury
We’ll start on a low, which is a massive blow for Tottenham Hotspur.
Whilst in a foot-race with Nicolas Jackson, Tottenham’s £43m star pulled up badly, with what looked like a harsh hamstring injury.
We could see the Micky van de Ven out for some time, with the manager describing it as a ‘significant injury’.
Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie suspensions add to Spurs’ problems
The dismissals of Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie combined with unfortunate injuries led to a seriously strange nine-man Spurs side ending the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham ended the 4-1 defeat to Chelsea with a majorly unorthodox centre-back pairing of Eric Dier and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The two fought valiantly however, considering the amount of game time they’ve had in the first-team squad this season.
It’s a good job. They may just have to do it again…

Jan Vertonghen’s Ange Postecoglou verdict
Despite Spurs going down to nine men, Ange Postecoglou did not yield in regard to his high-line tactic.
Most teams would choose to shut up shop at this point to try and salvage a point – but not the Aussie gaffer.
This meant Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson had a field day running in behind. If it wasn’t for some incompetent finishing and Guglielmo Vicario’s ‘performance of the season‘, the scoreline would have been a lot worse.
Spurs legend Jan Vertonghen gave his verdict on this rather peculiar tactic.

After the injury to van de Ven and clear competent venture-half cover, Postecoglou may now look for a centre-back in the January transfer window.
Well after a recent scouting mission, there is a centre-back who has “caught the eye” and is now “on Spurs’ radar”.
