Tottenham Hotspur have been electric this season – but there’s always room to improve.
Spurs now have a list of star-studded names under Ange Postecoglou‘s regime. The likes of Son Heung-Min, James Maddison and Micky van de Ven have been some of the stand-out performers.
They’ve helped Tottenham to the top of the Premier League, a remarkable achievement at this stage, considering their position last season.
But Postecoglou is hungry to keep improving. Reports suggest he’s been monitoring an old friend very closely – who he’d be keen to reunite with at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Postecoglou keen on Kyogo
According to The Sun, Postecoglou sent Ian Broomfield to Scotland on a four-day scouting mission – and now the club are keen on Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi.
The Japanese ace was a bargain for the Scottish side, coming in at just £4.5m.
His return has been sensational in the Scottish Premiership. Over the three years he’s been at the Hoops, he’s played 98 games and scored 61 goals.
He could bring some much-needed firepower to Spurs as they look for the Premier League title.
Tottenham wanted Kyogo Furuhashi in the summer
According to Sky Sports, there were reports linking him with a move away from the club this summer following the departure of Postecoglou to Tottenham.
But the 28-year-old then committed his future to Celtic by signing a deal that will keep him at Parkhead until 2027.
This means Spurs will definitely have to pay a little more for the Japanese forward services… but with a goal return like that? It could certainly be worth it.
Despite the league position, Spurs do need a couple more men to bolster their squad depth. An injury to one of their big stars could spell trouble.
Furuhashi would be a great rotational player – for the right price.
