The Brazil international has been a regular for Ange Postecoglou‘s side this season but didn’t come off the bench against Chelsea.
The reason is now known, with the 26-year-old expressing his desire to ‘rest’ whilst also set to undergo surgery.

Richarlison is set to undergo surgery on a pelvic injury after, in his words, “suffering for eight months”.
“The last few months haven’t been easy for me. I’ve also been suffering with my health,” he told ESPN Brazil.
“I’ve already spoken to the doctors and I’ll soon have surgery on my pubis.”
“I’ve been suffering for eight months, fighting for the national team and my club and I didn’t look for me.
“I think the time has come to rest, take a break,” he added. “Let’s see the next few days, soon I’ll do what’s best for me.”
When is Richarlison having surgery?
As stated above, Richarlison said ‘I’ll soon have surgery on my pubis’, indicating that the procedure will probably be imminent.
He and Tottenham Hotspur will want to get this done as quickly and smoothly as possible – with Richarlison definitely a key figure for Spurs.
Richarlison predicted return date
Richarlison should be back in around three to six months.
The former Everton striker is having surgery on his pubis, which according to the Cleveland Clinic takes the following to recover from as an athlete:
‘It takes a few months to recover from osteitis pubis. Most athletes are able to resume their sport with no symptoms three to six months after starting treatment.’
