It has been a fast start to life at Spurs for Thomas Frank.

The Dane has hit the ground running, losing just one game from seven and turning the Spurs defence into a solid unit.

At the top end of the pitch, the goals have been flowing, and new signings are finding their feet quickly.

But there has been quite a change in personnel. The main sources for goals and assists last season haven’t featured much, if at all, since Frank’s arrival.

That being said, he’s making no excuses.

Thomas Frank says Heung-min Son, Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison all big losses but has a good outlook

As pleased as Frank is with how life has started in North London, he’s fully aware that he is dealing with a squad not at full-strength.

Ahead of Saturday night’s Wolves match, Frank was asked about those absences, and why he hasn’t spoken more about it.

He responded: “I can’t do anything about it. So, I’m thinking, why complain? Why, you know, but I agree.

“Of course, it’s the three players who have been very significant in terms of goals and assists the last two seasons. Like, those are the three top dogs that just are producing everything.”

Son has obviously left the club, and Frank’s plans, while Maddison is sure to be out for the foreseeable future.

We could see a Kulusevski return in the coming months, but Frank realises he needs to get the players he has available to that level, or as close as he can.

Frank acknowledges new attackers need time

Spurs have an impressive goal record to start the season, but to be objective, many of the big margins have been against lesser opposition.

At times, it has been obvious that players don’t fully know each other yet.

There is still work to be done to get the best out of the forwards, and Frank realises this. He reminds us that Dominic Solanke is another of last season’s players he has had to do without for most of his time at Spurs so far, but that he is confident he can get a tune out of those available.

As he puts it: “So it is a fairly new front four that need to find each other and we need to help them gel together, find the relationship, and get to that good level.”

If his track record at Brentford is anything to go by, Frank will have this Spurs attack flowing in no time.
