Thomas Frank has provided a promising injury update on Dejan Kulusevski during his pre-Doncaster Rovers press conference.

The 25-year-old is yet to play for his new boss after being ruled out with a knee injury sustained in May and having surgery on it.

Reports this week suggested Kulusevski wasn’t expected to be back playing for Spurs until next year.

However, Frank has now revealed that he will be back sooner than that, although he’s reluctant to put an exact date on it.

Thomas Frank says Dejan Kulusevski will be back playing for Tottenham by the ‘end of this year’

Speaking before Spurs’ Carabao Cup clash against League One Doncaster Rovers on Wednesday, Frank gave an injury update on his squad.

Asked about Sweden international Kulusevski, he said: “Kulusevski is a top player. I always liked him when I saw him from afar. Key player for us, key player for me.

“I’m not putting a month on it but I want him back as soon as possible and he’s working hard to do that as are the staff. He will be back before the end of this year.”

Kulusevski will be a major boost for Spurs when he returns, having scored 25 goals and grabbing 30 assists for the club in 146 appearances.

Frank also gave an update on other injured pair Dominic Solanke and Kota Takai.

“Everyone available last time is available again,” he said, referring to Spurs’ draw with Brighton.

“Kolo Muani and Ben Davies they’ve got minor injuries but this game has just come too soon. Dominic [Solanke] and [Kota] Takai are progressing, they were training with the team today.”
