Forget Lamine Yamal, Tottenham star currently tops individual stat across Europe’s top five leagues

Spurs have added some serious firepower to their attack this summer.

Scoring goals wasn’t an issue last campaign under Ange Postecoglou. It was limiting goals on the other end that left Spurs in an unfavourable position in the Premier League.

Improving the defence was Thomas Frank’s first order of business when he assumed the post, and after five league outings, three clean sheets is a pretty encouraging return.

But Spurs have also improved the attack, on paper anyway. Players like Xavi Simons, Randal Kolo Muani and Mohammed Kudus have come in, upping the individual quality in the side.

The latter has thrived since making the switch from East London to North.

Mohammed Kudus leads the way in Europe for successful take-ons

Arriving from West Ham for £55 million, there were hefty expectations on Mohammed Kudus.

He’s a player who, despite not being at his best last season, has long been regarded as one of the league’s most exciting attacking prospects.

He has had a hot start to life at Spurs, providing two assists in his Premier League debut, and most recently, forcing an own goal from Brighton to rescue a point.

Perhaps even more impressive is Kudus leading all players in Europe’s top five leagues in take-ons.

To be ahead of the likes of Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe on any list is an achievement. But this is business as usual for Kudus, who topped the Premier League for this very stat last season.

Mohammed Kudus has goals to his game as well

We’re yet to see the Ghanaian on the scoresheet for Spurs, but it’s only a matter of time.

Kudus has scored some worldies for the Hammers in his two seasons at the club. His ball-striking is second to none, and if he can find some consistency in front of goal, we could be talking about one of the best attackers in the League.

Frank has so many attacking options at his disposal, all of whom will get a fair shake across the four competitions, but Kudus has made a case to be the most frequent starter on the right flank.

He is one of the players who will be leaving for AFCON in December.

But until then, he should be a regular in this Spurs attack, and hopefully, he can continue to set the standard for beating players off the dribble.
