Alan Shearer was really impressed with one Tottenham Hotspur star following his display last weekend.
Tottenham were unable to beat Brighton & Hove Albion, drawing 2-2 at the Amex Stadium after initially finding themselves 2-0 down.
New signings Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudus did well, but it is another Spurs attacker who has made Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week.
All three players are likely to be rested on Wednesday when the Europa League winners take on Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup.

Richarlison makes Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week
It was Richarlison who got Tottenham’s comeback underway after scoring just before the half-time whistle, and Shearer has rewarded him for his goal and overall performance.
The Newcastle United legend named the forward in his Premier League Team of the Week for matchweek five, describing him as a “constant thorn” in Brighton’s side.
On Richarlison, Shearer said: “A constant thorn in the side for Brighton’s defence, he scored a crucial goal just before half-time to get Spurs back into the match as they earned an impressive point from 2-0 down.”
The 28-year-old has made a very positive start to the season, scoring three goals in his first five top-flight games. Across those fixtures, Richarlison has also registered one assist.
While Tottenham have signed a new striker in Randal Kolo Muani, it is thought that Richarlison is still key to Thomas Frank’s plans.

Richarlison’s numbers vs Brighton
Richarlison really did cause Brighton a lot of problems on the day, and the numbers show that.
For example, in total, the Brazil international had five shots. He also completed both of the dribbles he attempted and one key pass.
| Richarlison’s stats against Brighton | Total |
| Minutes | 90 |
| Goals | 1 |
| Shots | 5 |
| Dribble attempts (successful) | 2 (2) |
| Key passes | 1 |
| Ground duels (won) | 7 (4) |
| Aerial duels (won) | 3 (2) |
Kolo Muani was a smart addition on paper — an experienced striker who cost nothing — and Dominic Solanke can be a real handful at times. But at this moment in time, Richarlison should be Frank’s first-choice No.9.
Tottenham’s next game in the Premier League is against Wolverhampton Wanderers at home. You would expect Richarlison to start that fixture while perhaps being rested in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup tie with Doncaster.
If the former Everton man can stay fit and maintain his form, Spurs will cause a lot of teams trouble this term.
