There were a number of standout performers in Tottenham’s 4-0 hammering of Man City.

Ange Postecoglou’s side were undoubtedly back to their best against the Citizens, with James Maddison’s ‘outrageous’ display catching the headlines.

Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr also earned praise against City, meanwhile, Dejan Kulusevski earned a 9/10 rating for his impressive performance.

The plaudits will unsurprisingly go to Tottenham’s attacking stars but Postecoglou believes his defence also deserves praise – highlighting two defenders in particular for their display at the Etihad Stadium.

Ange Postecoglou lauds Ben Davies and Radu Dragusin performances

Keeping a clean sheet away at the Premier League champions is no mean feet and Tottenham have both Ben Davies and Radu Dragusin to thank for that.

The defensive duo stepped up to the plate in the absence of first-choice pairing Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, each providing an immense display at the heart of the Tottenham backline.

Speaking in his post-match conference, Postecoglou shone a light on the performances of Davies and Dragusin – via Football.London.

I thought they were all great. You have to be against City. The way they deliver the ball and consistently probe.

You have to be focused and I thought Ben and Radu were throughout and Vic was really positive behind them.

Collectively I thought we defended really well but credit to those two guys because Ben and Radu didn’t shy away from playing out from the back either.

Ben Davies and Radu Dragusin’s stats against Man City

Dragusin’s display against Ipswich earned criticism from Spurs fans before the international break but the Romanian’s performance versus Man City would have undoubtedly gone a long way to shutting up those critics.

Davies also has been no stranger to criticism during his Tottenham career but the Welshman’s display at the Etihad Stadium is yet another reason why fans nickname him Mr.Reliable.
