Tottenham Hotspur have beaten Manchester City 4 – 0 at the Etihad in the Premier League. Yes, you read that correctly.

Two goals from James Maddison, combined with Pedro Porro and Brennan Johnson’s strikes ensured Tottenham Hotspur emerged victorious once again over Pep Guardiola.

It was a day to remember in the Premier League for Spurs, with a number of standout Tottenham players against the Cityzens.

Maddison was immense and silenced some critics, Dejan Kulusevski was superb and even Guglielmo Vicario and Radu Dragusin silenced some of their critics with fine performances.

But whilst Tottenham players shone on the pitch, it’s someone who was off it that deserves immense respect.

Ange Postecoglou deserves credit for Manchester City result

Ange Postecgoglou is often criticised at the helm of Tottenham Hotspur. The Aussie manager has endured some embarrassing defeats thus far this season.

But this, alongside the win prior against the Cityzen’s, was one of his finest moments. He got everything absolutely spot on, from starting XIm to tactics, to substitutions.

Postecoglou’s style to intensely press the opposition worked a treat against Guardiola’s side, who looked tame and shellshocked in comparison to their usual fierce selves.

It was the men on the pitch who got the job done, but it was the Tottenham manager’s work behind the scenes that really ensured the victory. ‘Box office’ stuff from the Aussie.

Postecgolou proving his worth at Tottenham Hotspur… trophies await?

Amid a sea of speculation and criticism as to whether the 59-year-old is the right man for the job, fans need to take a step back and appreciate what Postecoglou has brought to Tottenham so far.

That. is a distinct style of play, and a vision. Postecoglou often wins trophies in his second season, so needs time to prove this could be true around Hotspur Way. Besides, his record hasn’t exactly been bad thus far anyway.

Premier League wins after 50 games

Postecoglou will win Tottenham trophies – and the Manchester City masterclass, combined with a few of the other stellar performances this season, is slowly proving that.
