Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood has called upon Daniel Levy and the Spurs fans to back Ange Postecoglou, believing that he could end the wait for a trophy.
It came after Tottenham thrashed Manchester City 4-0 in the Premier League, bouncing back from a disappointing defeat to Ipswich before the international break.
A James Maddison brace started the afternoon off before Pedro Porro and Brennan Johnson got in on the act to seal a historic victory.
For Ange Postecoglou, it sealed an important win and showed exactly what his side are capable of in their very top levels.
While some Tottenham fans have questioned the manager, especially given the lack of consistency, Sherwood believes he needs to be backed.

Tim Sherwood backs Ange Postecoglou after Tottenham pressure
It’s an important year for the Tottenham head coach to show signs that his project is developing in the right direction.
That has been questioned in recent weeks, given a mixture of results, but a win for Postecoglou over Man City shows the potential he has to take the club to new heights.
With that in mind, former boss Sherwood has called for him to be backed by fans as well as by Daniel Levy in the transfer market.
Speaking on Optus Sport, he said: “I’m just pleased for the manager because you know, I’d have to say there’s probably a 50/50 split on Tottenham fans who either want him or amazingly want him out.
“It’s incredible, I can’t believe it. Shame on you guys for wanting this guy out.
“This guy, for me, is a breath of fresh air, what Tottenham have needed, and he needs results like this to convince a lot of the fanbase that he is the main man.
“For me, give him time, give him the money, give him a few transfer windows, he’s got a clear identity.
“He will win trophies at this football club but he needs to be given time to be able to do it.”
It’s a clear and pointed message from the former Spurs man, but it shows a clear thinking in where the club can go.

Tottenham fixtures will truly test Ange Postecoglou theory
While Tottenham are far from the finished product, the coming games will be a bigger test of Postecoglou’s ability.
The head coach has shown the ceiling available to the side when they can beat a team like Man City convincingly.
However, consistency is needed if they are to reach the top-four or a final of a competition in the months ahead.
For that reason, clashes with Fulham and Bournemouth may be bigger tests of where the side currently are than the victory over City, which may seem bizarre.

If they can get those victories over teams they expect to beat while sprinkling in some points against those teams at the top, they’ll have a better chance of reaching where they need to.
It remains to be seen if they are truly capable of doing that though.
