Joao Palhinha reportedly had one condition before signing for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

Tottenham brought in Palhinha from Bayern Munich on a loan deal in the last transfer window, and they will be glad that they did.

In their first five Premier League games of the season, the midfielder has easily been one of their best players.

Palhinha was disappointed with Tottenham’s draw with Brighton & Hove Albion, but he can be satisfied with his performance at the Amex Stadium and his overall form right now.

Joao Palhinha insisted on buy option being included in loan deal

Tottenham have the option to sign Palhinha permanently at the end of his loan, which you would expect them to do if his level does not drop.

Again, the 30-year-old has been one of the standout individuals in Thomas Frank’s squad in this early part of the season. Against Brighton, he made seven tackles, the most in his team, according to Sofascore.

While Spurs will now be thinking about keeping hold of Palhinha, it looks like the Portugal international’s mind was made up before he even joined the Europa League winners.

As per GiveMeSport, Palhinha viewed his loan move to Tottenham as being “contingent” on the club including a buy option.

Simply put, Palhinha had made it clear that he wanted a permanent move back to England if possible, with that now being a possibility.

In their last outing against Brighton, Palhinha actually set a record for the season. His tally of seven tackles is the highest recorded in a single Premier League game this term.

How much will Tottenham have to pay to sign Joao Palhinha permanently?

Bayern signed Palhinha from Fulham for around £47m last year, but Tottenham will be able to buy him for much cheaper.

It is thought that the fee that they have to pay to sign the former Fulham man permanently is £27m. Palhinha is in his 30s now, but that still seems like a bargain given what you will be getting from him.
