Joao Palhinha has shared his excitement about the ability and potential of Tottenham teammate Xavi Simons.
Tottenham recruited wisely in the summer transfer window, including with the addition of 30-year-old midfielder Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich on a season-long loan.
Xavi Simons, 22, was arguably the statement signing from Spurs following his permanent arrival from RB Leipzig, though. The versatile attacking midfielder has arrived in English football for the first time after excelling in Germany during the past couple of years.
Even though Spurs fans want to see Simons as a No.10, he’s started as a left-winger in his opening two appearances for the North London club.

Joao Palhinha predicts Xavi Simons will be a pivotal player for Tottenham
After Spurs secured a 1-0 home win against Villarreal on Tuesday night, Palhinha spoke about the obvious talent of Simons. In fact, he’s tipped the Netherlands international to be a key figure for Thomas Frank’s new-look side this season.
When asked what Simons can bring to Spurs, Palhinha told HaytersTV: “A lot of quality. Offensively, he will bring us for sure a lot of things. He is a really young player with a lot of talent. I think he will help us a lot in key moments. And he’s one more player to bring competition for the squad.”
Last week, Matt Upson was immediately impressed by Simons following a lively debut in a Premier League victory against West Ham.
With Spurs stars James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski both out through injury, the pressure is somewhat increased on Simons to hit the ground running straight away at his new home. Thankfully, the creative playmaker arrives sharp and ready because he started the season in Leipzig colours before securing his transfer late in the window.

Xavi Simons reacts to beating Villarreal
Spurs ace Simons, who played 77 minutes against Villarreal, uploaded a post on Instagram after the Champions League win in midweek.
Simons showed flashes of individual brilliance in yesterday’s European tie, but his wait for his first goal for his new club goes on. Hopefully, he can net for the first time on Saturday afternoon during the league trip to Brighton.
The left wing spot is an interesting one right now at the club with no standout option, so perhaps Simons may be needed to plug that hole moving forward. Regardless of his position on the pitch, he’s got the magic spark to unlocks doors and make things happens.
