Even though Tottenham have made a positive start to life under Thomas Frank’s management, they are missing some key personnel in creative positions. Therefore, it’s intriguing to come across reports that Spurs are considering a transfer move for a Bundesliga playmaker in 2026.
Tottenham are scoring goals pretty frequently right now, averaging two goals per game so far in the Premier League this season.
It is worth remembering that Spurs attacker Dejan Kulusevski, 25, hasn’t featured yet because of a knee injury. However, Frank’s injury update on Kulusevski on Tuesday confirmed that he will be back before the end of the calendar year.
Similarly, James Maddison’s ACL injury that he picked up in pre-season means that he’s not been involved in the 2025/26 campaign.

Tottenham eye swoop for Julian Brandt
According to CaughtOffside, Spurs are one of several Premier League teams lining up a potential move for Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt.
It is explained that the 29-year-old’s contract with the Bundesliga giants expires at the end of this season. Therefore, his future is up in the air because parties are yet to reach an agreement on an extension.
The report states that Newcastle United and Aston Villa are closely monitoring the Dortmund attacking midfielder. In addition, Spurs are ‘considering a move’ for Brandt because he’s the type of versatile profile who fits what they want.
Brandt, who’s got 48 senior Germany caps, can effectively operate as an attacking midfielder, central midfielder or winger.

Julian Brandt vs Dejan Kulusevski
Let’s take a look at how Brandt and Kulusevski compared at their respective club sides last season.
| Player | Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Julian Brandt | Borussia Dortmund | 50 | 6 | 16 |
| Dejan Kulusevski | Tottenham | 50 | 10 | 11 |
As you can see above, Brandt actually created five more assists than Kulusevski last season, who was the bigger threat in front of goal.
If Spurs can sign the experienced Dortmund ace for cheap in January or on a free next summer, it feels like a bit of a no-brainer. He would be an excellent addition to the attacking ranks in North London.
