Emerson Royal latest as Tottenham Hotspur exit stalls

There has long been an expectation that Emerson Royal would be on his way out this summer.

The Brazilian just hasn’t been able to make himself a regular starter at Tottenham since joining from Barcelona in 2021.

Pedro Porro is clearly the first-choice right back under Postecoglou and Emerson’s time may be coming to an end.

Reports suggest that Emerson has already agreed a five-year deal with AC Milan but is just waiting for the two teams to strike a deal.

Emerson may be increasingly concerned though as a move appears to be in danger of collapsing.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Milan’s talks to sign Emerson are on ‘stand-by’ and ‘negotiations have gone cold’.

Reporter Ben Jacobs has added that Tottenham want at least €20million (£17million) for Emerson, but Milan have only offered €10million (£8.5million) – and are ‘unlikely’ to meet the asking price.

BBC Sport’s Nizaar Kinsella adds that there has been no further contact between the two clubs since Milan’s €10million offer was snubbed.

Unless the two sides can suddenly meet a compromise, Emerson may see his move to Milan collapse – and leave him to be second choice at Tottenham.

AC Milan eyeing other targets

Reports in Italy now suggest that Milan are even moving on to other targets.

Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Milan have started exploring deals for two more Premier League right backs.

Manchester City’s Issa Kabore and Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka are believed to be Milan’s new right back targets with a deal for Emerson stalling.

They add that Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia are ready to offer Emerson a huge salary to leave Tottenham, so another sale option could open up.

News of Milan looking elsewhere is far from ideal though with Tottenham now fearing missing out on an Emerson sale, which may well impact Postecoglou’s hopes of incomings.
