After reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur, the agent of Frenkie de Jong has held talks with Barcelona to get some clarity on the situation.

Spurs are already being linked with various moves ahead of the summer transfer window and midfield is a position Ange Postecoglou looks keen to address.

However, one player who is not looking likely to join is the Barcelona midfielder, De Jong, despite the recent reports which have been circulating.

Tottenham’s interest in Frenkie de Jong

Earlier this month, it was suggested Tottenham had lodged a sensational £51m bid for the Dutch midfielder ahead of the summer.

But in recent days, the player has spoken out about the reports and it was apparent he was not too impressed with what he had heard.

Now, according to Spanish outlet Sport, the 26-year-old’s agent has now sat down with the La Liga giants to bring some clarity over recent speculation.

It is believed the meeting between the player’s agent and Deco lasted over an hour and ended in a positive manner with the club sharing their confidence in the player.

Tottenham’s summer plans

It looks unlikely the ‘extraordinary‘ De Jong will be heading to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, however, midfielders look to be on Postecoglou’s agenda.

Conor Gallagher is a name which will not go away at the moment with his Chelsea contract debacle rumbling on in the background.

It is believed Tottenham are very keen on the England international ahead of the upcoming window and would be interested in making a move for him.

But Gallagher is not the only midfielder being linked with a potential move to Spurs as Everton’s 22-year-old James Garner is also a player of reported interest.

Postecoglou has already brought in James Maddison this season, but otherwise, the midfield has been left as what he inherited with the club.

The Australian has looked to out his stamp on the side since arriving last summer, and it seems the next transfer window will be no different.
