Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a host of strikers over the summer before deciding to sign Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth.
The time had come for Tottenham Hotspur to sign a new striker.
Harry Kane hadn’t been replaced following his move to Bayern Munich and Spurs had to spend.
Tottenham splashed £65million on Dominic Solanke, luring him away from Bournemouth in the process.
Ange Postecoglou has hailed Solanke as ‘unbelievable’ with the England striker scoring four times in nine Premier League outings.
The 27-year-old was a huge addition for Tottenham but Spurs did consider other striking targets over the summer.

Tottenham Hotspur target set for huge MLS transfer
Back in March, reports suggested that Tottenham had sent scouts to watch Kevin Denkey as he smashed in the goals for Cercle Brugge.
Denkey racked up 28 goals in all competitions last season and put himself on the Spurs radar.
Cercle’s sporting director confirmed Tottenham’s visits with Denkey seemingly the subject of interest.
A £17million fee was mentioned at the time but Spurs unsurprisingly chose to go with Premier League experience in Solanke.
The 23-year-old is on the move now though – and he is set to break a transfer record in the process.
Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri notes that Major League Soccer side FC Cincinnati have agreed a deal to sign Denkey.
FC Cincinnati will fork out around €17million (£14million) for Denkey whilst handing him a salary of around $3million – around £45,000-a-week – over a five-year deal.
This is a new record transfer in Major League Soccer, shattering the previous record paid by Atlanta for Thiago Almada in 2022.
Kevin Denkey to join former Tottenham Hotspur players
Denkey’s move is a huge moment for Major League Soccer and especially for FC Cincinnati, who only joined MLS in 2019.
The Togolese striker will now be viewed as a player who can bring the MLS Cup to Cincinnati – especially at that price.
The switch sees Denkey join forces with a former Spurs man too as he will now be a teammate of full back DeAndre Yedlin.
Yedlin joined Tottenham from Seattle Sounders in 2014 but only made one first-team appearance for Spurs.
Now 31, Yedlin is an experienced performer and will hope to achieve real success alongside Denkey.
