The international break gave Tottenham players and staff some time to recover from that blow and they must get back down to business this weekend.

The positive for Ange Postecoglou is that a number of players impressed on international duty and the Spurs boss will be hoping see his stars bring that form to the Premier League.

Spain’s usual first-choice right back Dani Carvajal on the sidelines with a major injury and somebody needs to step up.

Porro has been given the nod and helped Spain beat Serbia 3-0 on Tuesday night.

Porro set up Spain’s opener, crossing deep into the box for Aymeric Laporte to nod home and set Spain on their way.

The £40million signing from Sporting is really taking his game to another level and he will be delighted with an assist in a comfortable Spain win.

Spanish media on Pedro Porro

The Spanish media were impressed with Porro with Mundo Deportivo branding him ‘flawless’.

“After failing to shine against Denmark, he made a statement to present his candidacy to become the owner of the right flank in the absence of Carvajal. From his boots came the measured cross that Laporte headed into the net,” they wrote.

Goal rated Porro at 8/10 whilst El Desmarque went even higher at 9/10, suggesting that this display could really establish Porro as Spain’s first choice right back.

“This time, the Tottenham full-back responded in style with the La Roja shirt. Perhaps one of those games that help him establish himself. Very active on the right, combinative, coming down his wing and, above all, being decisive: he assisted Laporte for the 1-0 and caused the penalty that Morata missed,” they wrote.

Diario La Escuadra rated Porro at 9.5 out of 10, rating him as Spain’s best player after a simply ‘impeccable’ display.

“Impeccable performance from the Don Benito player, assisting Laporte for the first goal, causing the penalty that Morata subsequently missed and providing flight down the right flank with exquisite crosses , defensively a rock in the little that they attacked him. MVP for Spain,” they wrote.

Tottenham will certainly be happy with Porro’s display and will now look for him to replicate the performance against West Ham this weekend.
