Pedro Porro has cemented himself as a key player for Tottenham, so with that said, here’s a look at everything you need to know about the full-back.

Pedro Porro has quickly moved towards being an integral player at Tottenham in a short amount of time. The full-back was signed from Sporting CP on an initial loan in January 2023, with a permanent deal struck for £40million in the summer.

The Spaniard was initially used as a wing-back within a back five, suiting the system of then manager Antonio Conte. The arrival of Ange Postecoglou saw a switch back towards using just four defenders at the back.

While there were questions over whether Porro could suit playing as a full-back, he answered those quickly with his performances. He has been crucial to the team, so with that said, here’s a look at everything you need to know about Pedro Porro.

Pedro Porro and Tim Sherwood

There were some back and forth spats between Pedro Porro and former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood through the media. The latter claimed the defender was “so bad it’s unbelievable” in one of his first games at the club after joining.

Porro said on the criticism in the Guardian: “Let me loose in a prison and I’ll end up owning the place. But it’s hard: it was only a week, I’d never played a minute at [Manchester] City, never played in England in my life. It’s a couple of days, I start against Leicester.

“What do you want? For me to score five and cut out 70 balls?! Anyone can have a bad day. From there, I just keep on: take English classes, get into the group, adapt…

“For me, it makes no difference, I don’t know him. I don’t know what had happened for him to speak. People passed it on, saying he had spoken badly about me. But he won’t be the first who then had to shut his mouth.”
