Tottenham Hotspur face a quick turnaround from their disappointment against Crystal Palace in the Premier League as they face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.

Spurs limped to a 1-0 defeat to Palace at Selhurst Park as the Eagles secured just their first win of the season against their London rivals.

The North London outfit never got going across the capital and Ange Postecoglou’s big gamble to change the game by taking off Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison together failed miserably.

Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario admitted that Spurs lacked fight against Palace and his statement will ring alarm bells for the club’s supporters who saw their side suffer yet another away defeat.

Next up is Man City in the League Cup and Pep Guardiola has at least delivered some good news for Spurs having dropped a hint over his team selection plans.

Pep Guardiola drops hint over line up vs Tottenham

Guardiola has revealed that Man City are likely to select youth team players against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup due to their first-team options being limited.

The Premier League champions head into the clash with several injuries which include Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker, Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku and Oscar Bobb.

The Spanish coach has now suggested that he will ring the changes for his side’s trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium which could be great news for Postecoglou’s men.

Speaking after the win over Southampton, Guardiola told the media: “We are few, few people. I don’t know if I’m going to think against Spurs maybe some players from the academy. We will see.

“If the players are fine they are going to play against Spurs but if they have doubts I’m not going to take a risk, that’s for sure.”

How could Tottenham line up vs Man City?

Heung-min Son was rested for Tottenham’s trip to Palace as a precaution and is expected to be fully fit to play in the Carabao Cup tie.

Spurs will be hoping that their captain can continue his fine form against City having won nine of his 19 meetings against them and scoring on nine occasions.

The Lilywhites are likely to keep several key players in the team with Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Pedro Porro, Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke all likely to start.

Tottenham’s predicted line up vs Manchester City: Vicario; Spence, Van de Ven, Dragusin, Porro; Bentancur, Sarr, Kulusevski; Son, Johnson, Solanke.
