Tottenham Hotspur produced a toothless display at Selhurst Park as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat against a struggling Crystal Palace side.
Ange Postecoglou’s men offered next to no threat in the South of London as they became the first Premier League team to lose to Palace this term.
Tottenham tried to swing the game in their favour, however, Postecoglou’s big gamble against the Eagles proved in vain as his triple substitution taking off Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison killed off any hope.
The Australian’s team once again showed a soft underbelly on their travels as they suffered an eighth defeat in their last 13 away matches. After the match, Guglielmo Vicario sent a message that will concern the North London club’s supporters.

Vicario’s worrying message after Crystal Palace defeat
Vicario has warned his Tottenham teammates that playing good football is not enough to win games and they need to show a greater fight in games.
The Italian goalkeeper believe Palace showed a far greater fight than Spurs in the London derby which will come as a big concern to their fans who have become far too accustomed to their team showing a lack of desire to win matches.
Vicario told SpursOfficial: “We didn’t fight as we could fight. We showed less than them. We have to improve this aspect.
“They really wanted it but we have to know that when you come to play away from home in the Premier League every team has a little bit more to show in front of their fans in terms of attitude and power.
“Today they showed this and we showed less than them. For us as a team we have to improve this aspect because to win games you can’t just play good football.”
Vicario apologises to Tottenham fans
Vicario was spotted apologising to the away end for how the team played against Palace, which the travelling fans appreciated.
The 28-year-old was the only Spurs player to show an understanding of how bad the team was in South London’s defeat.
But despite Vicario’s gesture, Tottenham fans would rather see the team actually show a response on the pitch and they will get the chance to do so against Man City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
