Tottenham Hotspur suffered yet another away defeat as they were beaten by Crystal Palace 1-0 at Selhurst Park.
Ange Postecoglou’s team struggled to get started in South London and Jean-Philippe Mateta’s first-half strike proved to be the only goal of the game.
The win was the first of the season for the Eagles who have struggled under Oliver Glasner in the new campaign having been on a run of three straight defeats.
Spurs looked so lacklustre in the London derby as they slipped to a ninth away defeat under their Australian coach in 24 matches.

Ange Postecoglou’s major gamble vs Crystal Palace hurt Tottenham
Tottenham fans were left bemused by Postecoglou’s decision to make a triple substitution that involved both James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski coming off together. Neither had great games but Spurs should have kept at least one of their creative players on the pitch and the sub seemed to kill any hope.
On came Richarlison and Timo Werner who both struggled to make much of an impact and Spurs ended up limping to a 1-0 defeat.
After the game, Spurs fans took to social media to share their frustration towards the manager’s move and believe it cost them the game against Palace.
One fan said: “Well that went horribly wrong. Worst performance of the season even worse that Brighton and that is saying something. That is on Ange, completely wrong subs, Sarr on for Madison sure, but taking our player of the season off, Kulu for Werner Out of your depth Ange.”
“Spursy will forever be associated with this club no matter which managers or players we have, shocking every single one of them.
“Ange subs were the worst I’ve seen taking both Madders and Kulu off at the same time finished the game off for us,” added another supporter.
The sub killed off any chance of Tottenham getting back into the game according to one fan, who wrote: “Ange still has my support but didn’t help himself today. His subs killed the game.
“Taking off both our chief creators then proceeding to put on 2 strikers was a baffling decision. Lost us any chance to get anything from the game.”
Postecoglou must improve Tottenham’s shocking away record
Tottenham have won just three times on their travels in the whole of 2024 which is the lowest out of the Premier League’s top six.
Postecoglou needs to address this major concern with his team showing such a soft underbelly when they’ve gone away.
Spurs should have been more than good enough to see off a Palace side who have already lost five times this campaign and their performance was just unacceptable.
