Glenn Hoddle is one of the finest players to ever play for Tottenham, with the legendary figure also managing the club.

Earlier on Wednesday, Thomas Frank was sacked and sent marching out of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle in the Premier League.

Sum up Thomas Frank’s time at Tottenham in three words

Jamie O’Hara reacted immediately to Frank’s sacking, with the former midfielder vocal for a few weeks that the head coach had been given enough time to transform things.

Hoddle has now delivered his verdict on the situation with Frank and it would appear that he’s got some sympathy for the departed boss.

Glenn Hoddle uses Joe Root analogy to defend Thomas Frank

Root is one of England’s finest batsmen of all time, and Hoddle has now used a pretty good analogy to try to offer some sympathy towards Frank.

The Danish boss came with a pretty decent reputation following his time with Brentford, where he won promotion and then stabilised them as a Premier League football club.

Hoddle posted on X: “Thomas Frank sacked today, he’s had some crippling injuries to a lot of talented players he couldn’t call upon. A big reason why we didn’t see him flourish at Spurs. This is a fact, not excuses. For eg if Joe Root was having to bat with half a bat, you couldn’t expect much!”

Now, it will be fascinating to see who Tottenham get to replace Frank and when it comes to a long-term solution, things might have to wait until the summer.

Tottenham need a motivator

Spurs fans have suffered for long enough. Although silverware was won last year, it was another campaign where the club was nothing more than a laughing stock in the Premier League.

Tottenham are a club steeped in history, and it’s unacceptable for them to be languishing in the bottom half of the table for a second year running.

As a result, Spurs need to get a motivator in as a short-term fix, someone who will work with the fit and available players to put some smiles back on faces in the stands.

It would take an awful lot for Tottenham to get relegated, despite the perilous position and if a new man can get the fans on side, things should be just fine ahead of another summer reset.
