Tottenham Hotspur have finally decided to end the short tenure of Thomas Frank as the club’s head coach.

Frank was sacked by Tottenham on Wednesday morning, hours after a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Danish incumbent oversaw a drab run of two wins in 17 matches, and being brutally honest, it’s remarkable it’s taken this long to sack him.

Sum up Thomas Frank’s time at Tottenham in three words

Frank had done well in the Champions League, leading the team to a last 16 place after a top eight finish from the league stage of the competition.

However, much like Ange Postecoglou before him, it’s the club’s league form that he has to carry the can for and that simply hasn’t been good enough this season.

Jamie O’Hara reacts to Thomas Frank sacking

Frank departs with a woeful record in the Premier League, and Tottenham languish in 16th place in the table with just 12 matches of the campaign remaining.

O’Hara is clearly pleased that Frank has departed the club, but he also believes that the players must now take some responsibility for the recent run of results, too.

He posted on X: “Frank gone, out of his depth and had to be done, but that’s half of the problem. We have to get someone in to get a kick out of this squad and these players need to take a long hard look at themselves and decide whether they’re up for a fight. Standards are shocking, has to be miles better.”

Frank becomes the latest manager to try and fail at Tottenham, and after trying several different approaches in recent years, it’s not clear what comes next.

Tottenham need a motivator in charge

Sacking Frank cannot change the fact that so many injured players are currently regulars in the treatment room.

With that in mind, Tottenham have to go out and get a masterful motivator in to make these players feel 10ft tall and play for a bit of pride once again.

This season was supposed to be one where Tottenham pushed on in the Premier League, but instead, the club are in the doldrums once again with supporters thoroughly fed up.

With 12 games left of the season, Tottenham should have enough to remain in the Premier League, and as a result, an interim manager might be the best fix in the short term.

That said, it has to be the right man and that is the challenge for the club’s hierarchy after Frank’s departure…
