Gary Lineker has been waxing lyrical about Spurs’ display at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon and was particularly impressed by one player.
Tottenham Hotspur ran riot in the Manchester rain as Ange Postecoglou’s side cruised to a 3-0 win over Man United.
Micky van de Ven’s outrageous assist to open the scoring stole the headlines as the Dutch defender intercepted a pass on the halfway line and drove through the United team to flash a ball across the box for Brennan Johnson to tap home.
Dejan Kulusevski then doubled the North London club’s lead with an exquisite finish over Andre Onana and Dominic Solanke later put the game to bed with a third.
But Lineker singled out one Tottenham star who looked back to his very best following a lengthy road to recovery from multiple injuries.

Rodrigo Bentancur is back to his best at Tottenham
The former Tottenham Hotspur striker believes Rodrigo Bentancur looked back to his very best against Manchester United.
The midfielder produced a classy display in the middle of the park at Old Trafford as he played a key role in helping Spurs secure a massive three points.
The 27-year-old has been struggling with plenty of injury issues over recent years following an ACL injury he suffered in February 2023 away at Leicester.
Lineker told The Rest Is Football podcast: “Bentancur is a player. I know he had his injury problems over the last couple of years, but in terms of the sitting role there, he is so calm, he is so good on the ball, so comfortable, isn’t he, in possession.”
However, the Uruguayan international is expecting a ban to be coming his way having been charged by the FA for ‘misconduct in an interview’.
Tottenham’s Bentancur-Maddison-Kulusevski midfield working wonders
Postecoglou looks to have finally found his perfect midfield trio in Bentancur, Kulusevski and James Maddison.
Kulusveski ran the show on Sunday as he set a new Premier League record for most chances created in a single match by a visiting player at Old Trafford. He created nine big chances. The Swede looks like a player reborn following his switch to midfield.
Meanwhile, Maddison played in a deeper number eight role and helped Tottenham to keep ticking over throughout the match.
