Tottenham Hotspur could be about to lose Rodrigo Bentancur for a lengthy period after the midfielder was charged by the FA.
Bentancur has been fined by the FA for ‘misconduct in an interview’ following comments aimed at Spurs teammate Heung-min Son.
The FA deemed his comments towards the South Korean to be ‘an aggravated breach’ in regards to his ‘nationality and/or race and/or ethnic origin’.
In an interview earlier in the summer with a South American broadcaster, when asked about getting the reporter Son’s signature, Bentancur replied: “Or any cousin of Sonny, they all look more or less the same!”
The Uruguayan is now facing the prospect of missing several matches following his comments and the FA’s charge.

Rodrigo Bentancur is facing a potential ban of six to 12 matches for his comments towards Heung-min Son, according to Football.London.
This issue has been hanging over the Uruguay international since the interview was released in June when he came under serious criticism at the time.
The FA have finally taken the decision to fine him and he now has until September 19 to respond. Bentancur started against Leicester and Newcastle, but was injured against Everton. Ange Postecoglou must now start making plans for his midfield without the 27-year-old over the next few weeks.

Tottenham have plenty of midfield options to cope without Bentancur. Yves Bissouma is likely to occupy the holding midfield role in the North London derby. Bissouma suffered an injury for Mali but is due to be assessed.
James Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr are set to be the duo to join the Malian international in the middle against the Gunners.
Dejan Kulusevski, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray are other options Postecoglou has at his disposal going into the derby.
