Spurs have looked much-changed since the arrival of Thomas Frank, and Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has noticed.

Fabian Hurzeler became the youngest ever Premier League manager when he assumed the role at Brighton last season, aged 31. He guided the Seagulls to an eighth-place finish in his debut campaign.

Spurs face off against Brighton in this weekend’s action, hoping to rectify the two losses they suffered at the hands of Hurzeler last season.

In the buildup to Saturday’s clash, the Brighton boss has spoken about his fellow countryman’s impact since joining the club this summer.

Fabian Hurzeler full of praise for Thomas Frank

While Hurzeler may have gotten the best of Spurs twice last season, it was one draw and one loss against Frank’s Brentford.

All the more encouraging then, to hear the 32-year-old compare the two sides.

In his pre-match press conference, Hurzeler was asked about the change he has noticed at Spurs this season.

He says: “I think they are playing quite similarly to how Thomas played at Brentford. Very compact, very intense, very man-oriented out of possession, and very good at set pieces.

“So every set piece is a danger, long throw-ins, good at corners, and good at free kicks. So similar to when we faced Brentford last season, and it was always difficult to beat them.”

There is clearly respect between the two German coaches, and Hurzeler will be desperate to get his first win over Frank.

Hurzeler likes signings of Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudus

Hurzeler didn’t only have good things to say about his opposing manager. He’s also impressed by Spurs’ business in the window.

As he puts it: “They have some new players, new high-quality individual players, especially like Kudus. Now they have Simons as a new player. So overall, they seem to be in a good place.”

Brighton haven’t started the season with the same form, with one win and one draw all they have to show for it so far. But this is a team stacked with young talent, and there’s no room for complacency in the Spurs dressing room.

Brighton away will be a big test, but if Spurs can manage a win, it will keep that feel-good factor going and serve as a confidence booster for Frank’s side.
