‘Warrior’ Brighton player can earn himself big January move with Tottenham audition on the horizon

One Brighton & Hove Albion star could be auditioning for a move to Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

Brighton take on Tottenham at the Amex Stadium, with the Europa League winners reportedly interested in one of their players.

The Seagulls sold Yves Bissouma to Tottenham in 2022, and it looks like the two clubs could be about to do more business.

The midfielder may not be at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to welcome the Brighton man, though. It is thought that Bissouma wants to join another English club in the new year.

Jan Paul van Hecke has chance to prove himself right in front of Tottenham

It was recently claimed that Tottenham will scout Jan Paul van Hecke this season as they weigh up making a move for the central defender.

On Saturday, Spurs will get the perfect opportunity to take a look at Van Hecke when they travel to the Amex.

Thomas Frank already has two really good centre-halves to call upon in Van Hecke’s compatriot Micky van de Ven and Tottenham captain Cristian Romero.

Van de Ven, though, has had quite a few injury problems at Tottenham since joining them from Wolfsburg in 2023.

With that in mind, Van Hecke could be a great addition to Spurs’ squad as they aim to compete on multiple fronts.

A solid performance against Frank’s men, and he could move up Tottenham’s shortlist, if he is not already at the top of it.

Jan Paul van Hecke compared to Bobby Moore

One man who will be convinced that Van Hecke is good enough to play for Tottenham is former Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray, who once compared him to the legendary Bobby Moore.

Van Hecke spent one season at Ewood Park on loan, and after one performance, Mowbray said: “I’ve got to be careful I don’t overbuild him as he’s not our player. But he looks like Bobby Moore out there sometimes.

“It’s amazing to watch how composed, how calm he can be, yet he has the fire of a warrior in [his] belly.”

All in all, central defence is probably one of the stronger areas in Tottenham’s squad, and it could be about to get even stronger.
