Tottenham Hotspur youngster Luca Williams-Barnett has earned himself a special place in Spurs’ history books after making his debut on Wednesday night.
Tottenham hosted Doncaster Rovers in the third round of the Carabao Cup, beating the League One side 3-0 courtesy of goals from Joao Palhinha and Brennan Johnson, as well as an own goal from Rovers’ Jay McGrath.
16-year-old Williams-Barnett was spotted in first team training ahead of the clash. Amid a whole host of changes for Thomas Frank’s side including goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky’s first start of the season, Williams-Barnett came on for his debut in the game.
Now, it’s been revealed the starlet’s bow is a huge milestone for Tottenham.

Luca Williams-Barnett is Tottenham’s 900th player
The former Luton Town youth player is the 900th Spurs player to have made their debut for the club.
Posting the breakthrough on their X, Tottenham said: “Congratulations, Luca!”
The teenager came on for four minutes, replacing Mathys Tel up front. He was on the pitch for his side’s final goal of the evening as Lucas Bergvall bagged another assist, setting up Brennan Johnson.
Spurs fans were impressed by his speed in his brief cameo, with many hailing him for getting stuck right into the game despite his age and lack of experience.
What did Luca Williams-Barnett say after his Tottenham debut?
Speaking to the club’s media team after the game, Williams-Barnett admitted making his Tottenham debut was ‘crazy’.
“I’m over the moon really,” he said. “Coming out for my boyhood club, it’s crazy really.”
Asked if first team football felt any different, he said: “Yeah! It felt really fast. I’m so used to Under-21s I’m thinking ‘yeah, [Doncaster are] not a great team’ but when I came out I was thinking ‘yeah, they’re quick’.
“It’s very physical and it’s very hard but I need to get used to it, and I will.”
Williams-Barnett turns 17 next week, and after bagging six goals already for Spurs’ academy this season, he will be hoping he can keep knocking on Frank’s door in the coming months.
