Tottenham Hotspur supporters would have been sobbing when Harry Kane said goodbye to them two years ago.
Kane left Spurs for Bayern Munich in the 2023 summer transfer window and posted a farewell video on social media as he confirmed his exit.
Since then, there has been speculation about the striker potentially returning to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium one day.
And looking back at his video, Kane gave a hint that he could end up rejoining his boyhood club in the future.

Harry Kane refused to rule out Tottenham return
In his farewell message, Kane did not rule out the possibility of moving back to north London.
On Instagram, he said: “[This is] not goodbye, because you never know how things pan out in the future, but it is a thank you and I’ll see you soon.”
Kane is one of the best footballers in the world and may be the best player in his position. The Englishman is only into his third season at the Allianz Arena but is already close to scoring 100 goals for Bayern.
| Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich record | Appearances | Goals |
| 2023/24 | 45 | 44 |
| 2024/25 | 51 | 41 |
| 2025/26 | 7 | 13 |
| Total | 103 | 98 |
However, Kane could still be very affordable in 2026. According to German publication Bild, Kane has a £56.7m release clause in his contract, which could become active next summer.
Thomas Frank has defended Kane in the past and has already sent the England international a message about returning to north London.

Thomas Frank’s message to Harry Kane
Frank has been very vocal about wanting to see Kane in a Tottenham shirt again, something that Bayern may not appreciate.
But with there being a release clause in the England captain’s contract, exit talk is inevitable.
“There are a lot of Tottenham fans, including myself who would like to see Kane back,” Frank was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. “Personally, I don’t think he will do it right now, if I’m honest. He’ll probably stay in Bayern [Munich] and continue performing well. He was the top scorer last year. He won the title and he’s doing fantastic now.
“I don’t know what he’s thinking. Myself, I’m a traveller, I like to explore things as well, so he’s been here for many years, so why not enjoy the time in Bayern a little bit more. But he’s welcome. If he wants to join us, he’s more than welcome.”
Tottenham already have Richarlison, Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani. They are a good batch of strikers.
Compared to the trio, though, Kane is obviously in a completely different stratosphere. If there is a chance to re-sign the Bayern star in the new year, it is a no-brainer.
A Tottenham homecoming would see Kane reunite with Djed Spence and several other familiar faces. Kane recently handed Spence his legacy cap following his England debut, a moment the Spurs defender will never forget.
