Real Madrid are putting together their plans for the next two transfer windows and look to be targeting big reinforcements in defence.
Los Blancos are keen to sign a central defender and a right-back as they look to strengthen their grip on European football. Madrid are targeting Arsenal defender William Saliba and Tottenham’s Cristain Romero as options for the centre-back.
Meanwhile, they are also keen to sign a right-back and that desire has only gotten stronger following the ACL injury suffered by Dani Carvajal. Madrid have made Spurs’ Pedro Porro and Trent Alexander-Arnold their two key targets but are leaning towards the Liverpool star.

Real Madrid target Trent Alexander-Arnold and Pedro Porro
Alexander-Arnold is Real Madrid’s number one target for the right-back spot, according to the Athletic. The 26-year-old is out of contract at Anfield next summer and Madrid sense this as the perfect opportunity to land a player who fits within their transfer policy.
The 15-time European champions believe that Alexander-Arnold’s age, versatility and experience at the top level make him the perfect signing. They are also keen to avoid spending big or getting involved in bidding wars so the defender’s contract situation makes him even more appealing.
Meanwhile, whilst Porro is a player they have been making reports on for several years, his situation in North London makes him a lot less viable.
The Spaniard is currently under contract with Tottenham until 2028 and the difficulty of dealing with the club’s chairman Daniel Levy is putting Madrid off.
Porro recently spoke about his pride in being linked with Madrid, however, a move to the Bernabeu looks tricky for him given Alexander-Arnold could be available on a free transfer.
Who is better: Trent Alexander-Arnold or Pedro Porro?
The fact that Porro can now be compared to one of the best right-backs of this current generation says a lot about how good he has now become.
Alexander-Arnold just about edges out the 25-year-old in most attacking departments, however, when it comes to the defensive side, the Tottenham man is clear.
| Stat | Porro | Alexander-Arnold |
| Games | 7 | 7 |
| Goals | 1 | 0 |
| Assists | 0 | 1 |
| Chances created | 13 | 16 |
| Passes attempted | 354 | 356 |
| Passing accuracy (%) | 78.25 | 73.88 |
| Crosses completed | 10 | 11 |
| Crossing accuracy (%) | 31.25 | 32.35 |
| Clerances | 14 | 4 |
| Interceptions | 10 | 5 |
| Blocked shots | 5 | 1 |
Porro deserves a lot of credit for how far he has come in terms of the defensive side of his game with the defender really impressing in that area this season.
The Lilywhites will now be hoping that Madrid opt for Trent over trying for their right-back who is quickly becoming one of Ange Postecoglou’s best players.
