Real Madrid are targeting their next major signing for the summer of 2025 and are sniffing around two stars from North London.
Los Blancos are looking to further consolidate their grip on the Champions League. Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are now at risk of losing their best defenders with the European champions lurking.
The two sides just faced off in the North London derby in which the Gunners came out on top as Gabriel Magalhaes’ header in the second half proved decisive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Real Madrid targeting Cristian Romero or William Saliba
Real Madrid are deciding whether to sign either Arsenal’s William Saliba or Tottenham’s Cristian Romero in 2025, according to the Independent.
The European champions are also aiming to sign Rodri and Trent Alexander-Arnold as they look to target Europe’s biggest stars.
Madrid had been attempting to bring in younger players in a bid to compete with the Premier League’s finances, however, they are now in a position to flex their own financial muscle and move for the best player around.
Los Blancos are keen to bring in a new central defender with Saliba and Romero viewed as two of the best playing on the continent.
The Frenchman, who Mikel Arteta has described as ‘exceptional’, is currently their first choice but there is an understanding he could be difficult to prise away from the Gunners given their emergence as one of Europe’s best teams.
Therefore, Romero is the secondary option and he looks to be far more attainable. The Argetine’s latest social media activity suggests he could be slightly unsettled at Tottenham.
Tottenham well braced for Romero’s departure
Tottenham appear well prepared for the potential departure of Romero. Radu Dragusin looks like a more than capable heir to the throne of the Argentine. Meanwhile, Micky van de Ven is quickly becoming one of the best central defenders in the Premier League.
Spurs also have a very talented young centre-back in Luka Vuskovic who is showing great progression in Belgium. The 17-year-old is making his mark on loan at Westerlo in the Belgian Pro League.
