Luka Vuskovic and Tottenham Hotspur seemed to be on the same page regarding his future until the young defender started seriously impressing in the Bundesliga.
The 19-year-old is one of the best young talents in Europe, but Spurs now look set to lose him this summer after he made it clear he wants to leave.
🤔 Keep, loan or sell: What should Tottenham do with Luka Vuskovic this summer?
Spurs have already rejected a £35m bid from Brighton…
Brighton are targeting Vuskovic, and it seems that the player is determined to make the move to the South Coast club this summer.
The North London club are now set to lose the young defender, who believes he will be playing for Barcelona in a few years.
Luka Vuskovic thinks he should be starting for Tottenham
Luka Vuskovic believes that his performances in the Bundesliga have warranted the chance to start for Tottenham Hotspur next season, according to Michael Bridge.
The defender’s plan is to spend two to three years with the Seagulls before attempting to secure a move to FC Barcelona.
Speaking about Vuskovic’s situation, Bridge told Last Word On Spurs: “The way I see it, they feel that if he goes to Brighton, in two years time he will go to Barcelona.
“The problem is that they were all aligned until he’s been doing so well in the Bundesliga, and all of a sudden, he thinks he warrants a start, which he probably won’t get in the Premier League.
“If Spurs were in the Europa League, then we might not even be having this conversation right now, but he’s been attracted by the thought of going to Brighton.
🤔 KEEP, LOAN or SELL: What should happen to Lucas Bergvall at Spurs next season?
💷 If sell, how much is the Tottenham midfielder worth?
“He’s got Europe with Brighton, and then two or three years, they genuinely believe he’ll play for Barcelona or a Real Madrid.”
Vuskovic struggled in Croatia’s 4-2 defeat to England last week, and there have been suggestions that the teenager is set to be dropped.
After securing a deal for Jan Paul van Hecke, Spurs could decide to part ways with the teenager to help fund moves elsewhere.
Lucas Bergvall also wants to leave Tottenham, which does raise concerns over the pathway to the first team for young players.
