Why Fabrizio Romano’s comments about Tottenham’s transfer plans will concern supporters

Frustration amongst Tottenham Hotspur supporters is growing as the club have made just one permanent signing this summer.

Spurs fans hope the team can push on this season after a strong debut campaign under Ange Postecoglou.

The North London club returned to the Europa League with a fifth-place finish which came despite the team suffering several key injuries.

The 2023/24 campaign gave the club’s supporters much reason to be optimistic for the future under Postecoglou, however, a lack of incomings has soured the mood.

So far this summer, Archie Gray is the only player to arrive at Hotspur Way on a permanent deal, whilst Timo Werner’s loan was extended for another season.

The Lilywhites need more attacking additions, although Fabirizo Romano’s latest comments suggest Spurs supporters could be left feeling disappointed.

Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham expect one more attacking signing

Tottenham plan to sign one more attacker this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

This news follows the Italian journalist shooting down rumours of Postecoglou’s interest in signing Juventus winger Federico Chiesa.

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Chiesa who looks to be on the move this month. Although, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will not be his final destination, with Spurs focused on other targets.

Pedro Neto and Eberechi Eze have both been linked with Tottenham and appear to be the primary targets for the Premier League giants.

Tottenham cannot rely on Richarlison and Heung-min Son

The one attacking area Spurs appear to be prioritising is a winger, indicating that a new striker is unlikely to be signed.

However, Tottenham cannot afford to head into the new season with Richarlison and Heung-min Son as their number nine options.

Last season, the Brazilian’s campaign was hampered by five separate stints on the sidelines, which included him missing this summer’s Copa America with a hamstring issue.

His injury record highlights how Postecoglou cannot afford to put his trust in him heading into the new season.

Meanwhile, Heung-min Son has already stated his desire to remain a winger, having played 23 matches up front last season.

Whilst there is certainly a need for another winger, Daniel Levy must not neglect the singing of a new number nine.

Ivan Toney has been linked with Tottenham and with his contract entering its final year at Brentford, Levy must capitalise on this opportunity.
