Tottenham are preparing to step up their summer transfer window activity in the weeks ahead to bolster Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

The Lilywhites have made a few moves so far, but they have been aimed at improving the options available for the future.

Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Yang Min-Hyeok have all moved to Hotspur Way as youngsters with plenty of potential.

That has been a key approach for Spurs so far, improving the younger options while moving on some fringe players.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has moved to Olympique Marseille, while talks continue over Emerson Royal joining AC Milan.

While Tottenham have looked to the future, there will also be a desire to add some immediate firepower to the squad.

Tottenham leading race for Federico Chiesa transfer

With the transfer market continuing to take shape, the latest player on the radar at Tottenham is Juventus and Italy star Federico Chiesa.

The 26-year-old continues to be linked with a potential exit from the Serie A, which has prompted interest from clubs across Europe.

According to TuttoJuve, Spurs are the current team leading the race to land the winger in the coming weeks though.

The report adds that Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool are also in the mix for the Italian international but are behind Tottenham.

It will cost €30million (£25million) to secure a deal with Bianconeri, which could give Ange Postecoglou an ideal new forward.

Federico Chiesa verdict

Chiesa is an interesting potential signing for Tottenham, who could work one of two ways for the North London outfit.

The winger has proven his ability at the very top, tearing it up for Italy in the 2021 Euros and then for Juventus shortly after.

However, with his injury troubles hampering his ability in the years since, there is naturally some concern over his ability to keep fit and return to that level again.

When at the top of his game, the 26-year-old prompted praise from Rio Ferdinand in 2021 as he told BT Sport: “He’s a huge player and he’s been linked with a few clubs in England.

“I’m sure they’re thinking ‘why didn’t we get him?’

“He’s just a fantastic footballer. The intensity with which he plays, we saw in the Euros he was the main goal threat for the Italians who went on to win the tournament.

‘It’s his pace, his drive. He’s the one who is the threat, he’s potent, he wants to run in behind.

“He’s that modern-day striker who can play anywhere across the front line and he’s as comfortable out wide as he is through the middle. He unnerves defenders with that pace, he’s so direct.”

The downside is that Chiesa is yet to recapture that form, while he will likely be a large financial outlay as a whole to secure his services.

It remains to be seen whether a move will be secured or not, but it’s a risky one that could have plenty of benefits if it works out for Spurs.
