Tottenham have started brightly this season, remaining unbeaten from their first seven Premier League games.

Ange Postecoglou has come in as manager from Celtic and revitalised the whole club with his attacking style of play, something Spurs fans have not seen for a long time.

The Australian has made a number of changes within the team, with the likes of Harry Kane departing and James Maddison coming in, and starring.

One player that once was a regular in the side, but now can’t get a game, is Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.

Højbjerg has been a regular for the past three years in the Spurs midfield, but has been limited to only 80 minutes playing time in the Premier League so far this season.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, the Dane is ‘very disappointed’ with his current amount of playing time, and feels ‘betrayed’ by the club he ‘loves so much’.

Due to this, it is being reported that Atletico Madrid are once again looking to sign the defensive midfielder in the upcoming January transfer window, with manager Diego Simeone said to be an admirer of the 28-year-old.

Juventus are also said to be keen, with their manager and sporting director also said to be big fans of Højbjerg.

Tottenham are said to value Højbjerg at around €40 million.

In what has been a poor last few seasons for Tottenham, Højbjerg has been a shining light.

His performances have clearly been good enough to bring in interest from some of Europe’s elite.

With his playing time limited, it may be there time to pounce with Tottenham potentially more likely to sell than in recent windows.

It is hard to say that Tottenham would miss him too, with Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr starring for Spurs this season in the midfield. Oliver Skipp is also another option should either be suspended or injured, so there may not be as much need for Højbjerg, especially if Tottenham continue in this fine run of form.

A move away may be for the best for both parties, as it stands. With the January window still three month away though, a lot can change in that time.
