Tottenham Hotspur are already lining up a summer exit for one of their players in order for him to gain more regular football.

The Lilywhites put another three points on the board over the weekend with another comeback win, this time against Luton Town.

Ange Postecoglou was able to rely on some of his familiar faces with Heung-min Son finding the back of the net for the winner.

However, there is one player who is already looking set to leave the club over the summer on loan as he simply isn’t getting the game time he requires to develop.

What has been said about Alejo Veliz?

The young Argentine striker Alejo Veliz has spent the second half of the season out on loan with Sevilla, but it is a move which has provided a lot of issues.

Having been sent out on loan by Spurs after only making eight appearances in the Premier League, the 20-year-old has gone on to make just three appearances for the Spanish side.

And over the course of those three appearances, Veliz has only been able to rack up a mere 23 minutes.

Ahead of the summer, it is apparent the young striker will be returning to Hotspur Way having barely played any football all season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs are already looking for opportunities to offload their youngster on a loan where he is guaranteed minutes.

He said: ‘Tottenham are preparing new loan with different plan for Alejo Veliz for next season as he’s not playing at Sevilla. Spurs want guaranteed game time for Alejo for next year as discussions will follow in the upcoming months. Veliz, set to return from Sevilla in any case.’

What Alejo Veliz’s agent said about a move to Real Madrid

Spurs made the signing of Veliz in the summer following the arrival of Postecoglou. He joined from Rosario Central for a fee believed to be around £12m.

It is a deal which will already be potentially seeing some questions asked at the club with Postecoglou clearly not holding the 20-year-old in his plans.

However, it does seem as if Spurs had managed to beat some of Europe’s biggest clubs to his signature.

Prior to joining Tottenham, Veliz’s agent had informed him that Real Madrid had shown an interest in him following the U20 World Cup.

Veliz said: “Yes, it appeared in the press and some time ago my agent told me about interest from Real Madrid, but nothing materialised.

“It was during the South American U20 Championship, I hadn’t been in the first team for long and I wanted to continue playing at Rosario. After the U20 World Cup, too. But I’m a calm guy, I take things patiently and I believe a lot in God, he focuses me on my path and he’s going to give me the best.”

Perhaps Carlo Ancelotti’s side are looking at the Argentine striker now and wondering whether it was a good thing they did not land him.

His move to Sevilla has gone down like a lead balloon in the Spanish media as they have slammed Sevilla’s sporting director Victor Orta for approving the move.

The Spanish media said: ‘The other big victim of [Dodi] Lukebakio’s return has been Alejo Veliz , who was left out of the squad in the last game. Since his arrival, the Argentine has added 23 minutes in three moments.

‘On loan from Tottenham, the bet has turned out to be an absolute failure for Víctor Orta at the moment and of dubious value for the future, since no purchase option is stipulated in the operation.’

What lies ahead for Veliz in his next loan deal could potentially make or break his time at Tottenham with another uninspiring campaign leaving some serious question marks over his permanent future.
