Tottenham Hotspur have been ridiculously active in the transfer window so far – but more news has now emerged.

In attack – Timo Werner has officially put pen to paper for Spurs, with the German joining from RB Leipzig on a loan till the end of the season.

As for the defence, it seems like Ange Postecoglou has been successful in the acquisition of Romanian defender Radu Dragusin from Genoa.

Now it appears Tottenham Hotspur are gifting the Serie A club a player in return, with Djed Spence heading the other way.

Djed Spece to Genoa

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano took to X today with an exclusive on the 23-year-old full-back. It appears Spurs have used the English defender as leverage in the Dragusin deal, with Spence joining on loan. However, there is an option to buy. He wrote:

‘Djed Spence will join Genoa on a loan deal from Spurs… but it will include a buy option clause! Understand it’s not mandatory and it will be in the region of €10m (£8.6m) — up to Genoa in June. Tottenham will pay Spence’s full salary as part of Dragusin deal.’

Spence will try his luck in the Serie A until the end of the season, then it’s in the hands of the Italian club as to whether they’ll fully bite the bullet on the Tottenham star. Spurs will pay his £25,000 p/w salary until then.

Djed Spence to finally get some game time?

It’s safe to say it hasn’t been the best few years of the young man’s career.

Since his promotion with Nottingham Forest to the Premier League at Wembley Stadium where he infamously broke down on the pitch, he’s played just 13 games in two years. This includes his most recent loan spell at Leeds United.

Genoa is a bit of a reset for Spence and a chance to prove himself on unfamiliar soil. We hope he smashes it.
