Fabrizio Romano claims that Tottenham Hotspur have booked Timo Werner’s medical ahead of his proposed move to North London.
In a move that not many would have predicted, Tottenham are set to snap up the former Chelsea man on a six-month loan deal.
Timo Werner looks set to become Ange Postecoglou’s first signing of the January window, despite the club’s pressing need for a new centre-back.

Tottenham remain locked in talks with Genoa over the signing of Radu Dragusin but have moved quickly to snap up a new forward.
Werner will join Spurs on an initial loan deal, with the option to make the move permanent over the summer.
Now, Romano claims the German forward is set to train with his new teammates as early as next week.
Timo Werner set for Tottenham medical
Romano took to X on Sunday morning and shared an update on Werner’s proposed move to North London.
He wrote: “Tottenham have already booked medical tests for Timo Werner as they wait for contracts to be signed then loan deal will be completed.
“Werner will start training as new Spurs player next week.”
It’s a move that has certainly divided opinion amongst Tottenham fans, with some labelling the move as the ‘cheap’ option.
Yet, other Spurs fans believe this to be a smart addition, particularly due to the fact it’s a relatively low-risk signing.

Werner endured a difficult spell at Chelsea between 2020 and 2022, with his £47.5 million switch from RB Leipzig not quite going as planned.
But the German international still picked up three trophies during his spell at Stamford Bridge, including a Champions League.
He’s fallen down the pecking order at Leipzig this term after returning to the club in the summer of 2022. But Werner has netted 113 goals and provided 47 assists in 213 games for the club.
While his 44 goal involvements in 89 games for Chelsea was less convincing, Tottenham will be hoping Ange Postecoglou is the right man to get the best out of Werner.
With Heung-Min Son participating in the Asian Cup over the coming weeks, snapping up Werner feels like a sensible move from Spurs.
Werner has been lauded as an ‘extremely fast‘ forward and his tireless work-rate off the ball makes him a good fit for Postecoglou’s style of play.
