Tottenham Hotspur want to bring in a new central defender and have been linked with Brentford’s Nathan Collins.
Collins is not the only centre-back on Spurs‘ radar. Tottenham are reportedly considering Jan Paul van Hecke of Brighton & Hove Albion as well.
Collins, though, is a player Thomas Frank knows well from his time at Brentford, so the Dane may prefer the 24-year-old.
However, Spurs could be about to run into a bit of a problem amid their interest in Collins.

Brentford will not sell Nathan Collins to Tottenham
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is likely to be an attractive destination for Collins, with Spurs winning the Europa League last season and currently competing in the Champions League.
Brentford, though, are expected to deny Collins a move there or to anywhere else in January.
According to TEAMtalk, the Bees will not entertain offers for the Irishman from Tottenham or any other interested party in the winter transfer window.
It means Frank will have to make do with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and the other centre-backs he currently possesses.
Romero and Van den Ven are solid centre-halves, but they have had some injury issues in north London.
Romero recently thanked Daniel Levy following his exit as Tottenham chairman. With Levy now gone, supporters will be hoping to see the club spend more money.

Tottenham also interested in Nathan Collins’ Brentford teammate
While Tottenham fans may not get to see Collins arrive in January, they could get the opportunity to welcome one of his Brentford teammates to the club.
As well as the former Wolverhampton Wanderers man, Tottenham are also allegedly keen on Yehor Yarmolyuk.
Yarmolyuk would arrive to give Frank more options in midfield. It is not an area where the Europa League winners are currently struggling, however.
Joao Palhinha has particularly impressed there this season and has brought the right mentality to Frank’s side.
Palhinha was not happy with Spurs’ draw with Wolves despite his side earning a point at the death thanks to his late equaliser.
With that in mind, perhaps the Portuguese would welcome more additions that could potentially make Spurs stronger, such as Collins and Yarmolyuk.
