Tottenham Hotspur could really frustrate Yves Bissouma in the January transfer window.

As of now, Spurs‘ plan is to keep hold of the midfielder for the season. Thomas Frank was recently asked about Bissouma and confirmed that he would be remaining in north London.

However, it is thought that Bissouma wants to leave Tottenham when the market opens again at the start of the new year.

The Europa League winners could make an exit for the 29-year-old difficult, though.

Tottenham reluctant to sell Yves Bissouma to another Premier League club

Bissouma has entered the final year of his contract. It means that Spurs will not have too much leverage in the January transfer window.

In the same window, if the Mali international wants to, he can sign a pre-agreement with a club outside of the Premier League.

However, according to Africa Foot, Bissouma wants to remain in England and has expressed that desire.

The same outlet has claimed, though, that Tottenham management’s stance has always been that they do not want to sell Bissouma to one of their Premier League rivals and that has not changed ahead of the January window. Instead, their preference is to sell to a foreign club.

With the former Brighton & Hove Albion man having less than 12 months remaining on his existing deal, Spurs are unlikely to receive any big offers for him. From their point of view, it may be better to let him leave for free than strengthen one of their rivals mid-season.

Yves Bissouma injury update

Bissouma is yet to make an appearance under Frank, and he may have to wait a bit longer before he does.

Africa Foot’s report claims that Bissouma will not return from injury until next month. Once he does, he faces an uphill battle to get into the team.

Frank currently has the likes of Pape Matar Sarr and Lucas Bergvall to call upon, with both midfielders shining in the 3-0 win against West Ham United on Saturday. The pair managed to get their names on the scoresheet at the London Stadium.
