It has been a shocking campaign for Tottenham Hotspur so far, and with the March international break now upon us, it is time to review the players’ performances.
Spurs had the worst possible result before the international break, losing 3-0 to relegation rivals Nottingham Forest at home.
🤔 Which Spurs player has had the worst season?
The Lilywhites are just one point above the bottom three, with West Ham United ready to leapfrog them after the next gameweek.
Having only just sacked Thomas Frank six weeks ago, the North London club are now set to make another managerial change with Igor Tudor set to leave.
The Spurs News now assesses the performances of each player this season following one of the worst campaigns in the club’s modern history.
Micky van de Ven – 4/10
Micky van de Ven started this season with so much promise, netting several impressive goals; however, his form has been shocking when the team has needed him most.
Van de Ven’s red card alone against Crystal Palace is worthy of a low rating as Spurs capitulated in a must-win game at home.
Fill in the blank: Micky van de Ven is worth £__m in this current market?
Mohammed Kudus – 5/10
Mohammed Kudus might be regretting his decision to leave West Ham for Tottenham in a few weeks, with the Hammers now on Spurs’ coattails.
The winger looked impressive at the start of the season, but now most teams have learned that he was often their biggest threat and shut him down.
Cristian Romero – 3/10
Cristian Romero was appointed captain at the start of the season; however, he has not stepped up to fulfil that responsibility and has been so poor this season.
Xavi Simons – 4/10
Xavi Simons was supposed to be the main signing at Tottenham this season and become the creative hub in N17; however, the winger has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League.
Pedro Porro – 4/10
Pedro Porro has been one of the best full-backs in the Premier League over recent seasons, but this year, his form has been so far off.
Lucas Bergvall – 5/10
Lucas Bergvall remains one of Tottenham’s most exciting young talents, and it’s such a shame his season was hit by injury.
Dominic Solanke – 2/10
It’s not hard to wonder why Spurs are struggling when your main number nine is Dominic Solanke.
Solanke is a great striker on his day, but that has been few and far between this season, and he has netted just three goals in the Premier League.
Conor Gallagher – 1/10
Conor Gallagher has been a terrible signing for Tottenham, offering next to nothing following his move from Atletico Madrid.
Spurs did not need another number eight, and along with his poor form at Atletico, it was just an odd signing from the Lilywhites.
Destiny Udogie – 3/10
Destiny Udogie has once again had plenty of issues with being unable to remain fit for Tottenham and we just have not seen much of him.
Archie Gray – 8/10
Tottenham Hotspur’s Player of the Season will go to Archie Gray, who has really stepped up whilst many of the other senior players have not.
👀 TRUE or FALSE: Archie Gray can become world class at Spurs…
If the North London club are to remain in the Premier League, the 19-year-old is likely to have played a key role.
Pape Matar Sarr – 5/10
Pape Matar Sarr has been rather underwhelming this season, especially after he made a strong start in the number ten role.
Djed Spence – 5/10
Djed Spence has been decent in terms of filling in as a right-back and left-back, but overall, it’s been an underwhelming campaign for him.
Richarlison – 7/10
Richarlison could be another player who plays a key role in keeping Spurs up this season, and the striker is now on ten goals in total.
Mathys Tel – 6/10
Mathys Tel has looked much improved over recent weeks, and his effort levels have been far greater than most.
Guglielmo Vicario – 2/10
Guglielmo Vicario is set to leave Tottenham this summer, and many fans will be delighted to see the back of him following a shocking set of errors.
Rodrigo Bentancur – 4/10
Rodrigo Bentancur has failed to ever recover the same levels since his injury troubles, and was very poor when he did play.
Randal Kolo Muani – 2/10
Randal Kolo Muani was an exciting loan addition on transfer deadline day, but he has made very little impact at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Kevin Danso – 6/10
Kevin Danso is probably Spurs’ best defender now and should be the first name on the team sheet, given the way Van de Ven and Romero have been playing.
🤔 Should Kevin Danso start for Spurs over Micky van de Ven?
Radu Dragusin – 3/10
Radu Dragusin spent most of the season out injured. He’s done okay since making his return, but he is a player Spurs must sell in the summer.
Wilson Odobert – 6/10
Much like his French U-21 teammate, Tel, Wilson Odobert has looked much improved this term, and it was gutting to see him suffer a bad injury.
Joao Palhinha – 6/10
Joao Palhinha split opinion at Spurs, but the midfielder has at least shown passion when he has played.
Tottenham should not sign him permanently in the summer, but he has been a good servant nonetheless.
Antonin Kinsky – 0/10
It’s a brutal rating, but Antonin Kinsky’s performance against Atletico Madrid was shocking, and with Spurs needing a Vicario replacement, it’s clear he is not up to the task.
RIGHT or WRONG: Was Igor Tudor right to sub off Antonin Kinsky after just 17 minutes?
Yves Bissouma – 3/10
Yves Bissouma has hardly played this term, but even when he has featured, the Malian international has offered very little.
Souza – 4/10
Souza had a solid cameo at Anfield, although we are yet to see much from the Brazilian.
Ben Davies – 3/10
Ben Davies has been a great servant to the club over the last 11 years, but now is the time to move on from the Welsh international.
