The one reason why Harry Kane must return to Tottenham as Thomas Frank urges him to come home

Harry Kane leaving Bayern Munich in the near future is not being ruled out, with former club Tottenham Hotspur being a potential destination.

It is being widely reported that Kane has a release clause in his contract, which could become active in the new year.

The striker is enjoying himself at Bayern, but there is one reason why he should return to north London, especially if Vincent Kompany’s side go on to win the Champions League this season.

If they do that, there will not be much left for the 32-year-old to achieve at the Allianz Arena.

Harry Kane has to break Premier League goal record before he retires

Rangers legend Ally McCoist cannot see Kane winning the title at Tottenham, but that should not deter the Englishman from rejoining them, as there is something else that he can accomplish there.

A return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would see Kane get the opportunity to surpass Alan Shearer and become the Premier League‘s all-time top scorer.

The England international is currently just 47 goals behind Shearer’s record. Two good seasons in the English top flight, and he could easily overtake the Newcastle United icon.

While it would be great for him if he could win the Premier League crown, Kane has now tasted title glory at Bayern. The Three Lions captain is going to retire with a league medal so does not have to obsess about winning silverware at Spurs.

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank is waiting for Kane to return with open arms. “There are a lot of Tottenham fans, including myself who would like to see Kane back,” he was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. The centre-forward should accept the invitation.

Harry Kane has always left door open to Tottenham return

Kane’s goodbye to Tottenham supporters in 2023 was a sad one, but he never ruled out returning to the club in the future.

In a farewell video Kane posted online, he said: “[This is] not goodbye, because you never know how things pan out in the future, but it is a thank you and I’ll see you soon.” Maybe he was not lying.
