But despite the injury, the attacking midfielder is keeping very positive about his return and has been speaking about where he is with his recovery.

Xavi Simons says he’s ‘really happy’ with his ACL recovery

Tottenham Hotspur attacker Xavi Simons has revealed that he is ‘really happy’ with how his ACL recovery is going at this stage.

The 22-year-old admitted that the first few weeks were tough post-surgery, but now, everything seems to be heading in the right direction.

Speaking on his Snapchat, Simons said: “The first week was one of the craziest experiences that I’ve had in my life if I’m honest.

“Not much swelling in my knee, but crazy pain, sleepless nights because of the pain, feeling a bit useless because you can’t do anything on your own and had to take a lot of medication

“After the second week, everything went upwards, and I made little steps every day. So now I’m really happy where I am!”

Tottenham are well stocked to replace Xavi Simons

There have been suggestions that Spurs could return for Morgan Gibbs-White this summer; however, the squad is well stocked to deal without Simons for now.

Roberto De Zerbi will not need to rush him back, as he will have James Maddison, Conor Gallagher, Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Bergvall, all of whom can play in the number ten role.

Tottenham are also looking to add Savinho to the attack, who knows Simons very well from their time together at PSV Eindhoven.

They are looking to sign a new midfielder to play in a deeper role, with Sandro Tonali being made the top target by De Zerbi.
