It’s been a difficult start for Mikey Moore since he joined Rangers on a season-long loan in the summer. Unfortunately, the Tottenham loanee had another tough night at Ibrox on Thursday.
Mikey Moore, who’s a product of the Tottenham academy, simply hasn’t got going yet during the first loan spell of his career.
The 18-year-old forward is highly rated because of his rise through the Spurs youth ranks, which led to 21 appearances in the first team. Incidentally, Gary Neville was impressed by Moore a year ago when the youngster played in a Premier League fixture against Manchester United.
He moved up north in the summer to join Scottish giants Rangers on loan in a bid to develop his game.
So far this season, Moore will want to forget his time at Ibrox.

Scottish media rip Mikey Moore to shreds
On Thursday night, Rangers suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Belgian club Genk in the Europa League.
Moore, who started the European fixture on the left wing, lasted just 45 minutes before he was substituted off at the interval. It’s now seven appearances across all competitions this campaign without scoring for the on-loan Rangers attacker.
After a disappointing loss in Europe, the Scottish media hammered several Rangers players for their performances, including Spurs-owned youngster Moore.
The Scottish Sun posted: “Mikey Moore – 5/10. Spurs loanee sent an early snapshot over then immediately drove narrowly wide but was too often guilty of squandering possession and stayed inside at the break.”
The Scotsman wrote: “Mikey Moore – 3/10. Unlucky with an audacious drive after 11 minutes, but should have at least hit the target shortly afterwards when he fired a shot wide in the area. Outside of that, though, he looks completely lost at Rangers. Took off at half-time.”

Currently, Rangers appears to be a challenging football environment due to the intense scrutiny surrounding Russell Martin in his role as manager.
The Scottish heavyweights have won just four of their opening 14 matches across all competitions this season. Even though Moore has had little impact so far on loan, it hasn’t been easy for any individual to catch the eye.

Mikey Moore statistics vs Genk
As you can see below, Moore had a pretty frustrating appearance against Genk before his substitution midway through the contest.
| Minutes played | Shots on target | Chances created | Accurate passes | Touches in opposition box | Expected goals (xG) | Match rating |
| 45 | 0/3 (0%) | 0 | 12/15 (80%) | 1 | 0.16 | 6.1 |
The Spurs loanee is currently learning the hard way that there will be plenty of ups and downs in a professional career.
We’re fascinated to see how the young talent responds because he will need to show a lot of character.
