Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall has had a somewhat mixed start to life at Spurs.

The 18-year-old arrived at Tottenham to much fanfare this summer after the Lilywhites beat Barcelona to his signature at the start of the year.

Although Bergvall has shown glimpses of his immense talent, there have also been a few moments that haven’t been so great.

For instance, there was the public dressing down by Guglielmo Vicario against Leicester in August, and the unfortunate early substitution against Qarabag after Radu Dragusin’s sending-off.

Now, former Sweden international Anders Limpar – who knows Bergvall’s father well – has shared what he has heard from his former teammate about the Spurs gem’s time at N17 so far.

Anders Limpar says he’s been told that Lucas Bergvall is enjoying life at Tottenham

Limpar spoke to Fotboll Direkt about Bergvall as he revealed that the Tottenham youngster is enjoying life at N17 and has a lot of support from his loved ones, who are visiting him in London.

“I sat and talked with his father for about half an hour a couple of weeks ago,” said Limpar.

“We talked about the fact that he is young and his father, Andreas Bergvall, I played with at BP [IF Brommapojkarna] so we know each other. I asked how he is enjoying London.

“He is having a great time. His father is over for a month, then his mother is coming for a month, and he has a girlfriend who flies over. So, he enjoys himself.”

Limpar shares what he thinks the future holds for Bergvall at Tottenham

Limpar went on to say that Spurs’ inconsistent form is not something that should fall on the shoulders of a teenage player.

He backed Bergvall to develop into a mainstay for Tottenham, whilst also suggesting that it may be time for a chance in the N17 dugout.

“He is a good footballer, but he is young,” he continued.

“If you look at Tottenham’s form in the Premier League, it has gotten a little worse lately and then you don’t lean on an 18 to 19-year-old from Sweden.

“In the matches I’ve seen with Lucas, he’s been fantastic. He just needs to be a little calm and ride out the storm, and I think it might be time for a change of coach.

“They have one of the most talented squads in the Premier League but they just can’t get it together team-wise at the moment.

“But Lucas will be a mainstay for Tottenham in the future, I’m sure of that.”
