Tottenham Hotspur have a busy schedule ahead of them and will need all hands on deck over the festive period.

Spurs have had to deal with a number of injuries throughout the season and this continues to be the case.

However, Tottenham are set to be boosted by the impending return of Cristian Romero, who has been recovering from a toe injury.

On Wednesday, Ange Postecoglou shared when he expects the Argentina international to be back in training.

Cristian Romero expected back in Tottenham training by early next week

Postecoglou, speaking ahead of the Bournemouth game, said Romero is set to undergo his final few rehab sessions on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Tottenham boss said he’s hoping Romero returns to training by Friday, but could potentially be back by early next week.

“He’s due to have his last session or last couple of sessions with the rehab guys, today and tomorrow,” Postecoglou told Alasdair Gold.

“So we’re kind of hoping that back into training, potentially by Friday. At the very latest early next week, if everything goes well.”

Micky van de Ven injury latest

Postecoglou originally tipped Romero to “potentially” be back for Thursday’s meeting with Bournemouth.

However, it’s not surprising to hear that Romero is needing another day or two with the rehab staff.

The key thing is that the important defender is set to be back in training in the coming days, and he may not be the only one.

Fellow Tottenham centre-back Micky van de Ven was back training on grass this week as he closes in on a return from a hamstring injury.

Last week, Postecoglou said Van de Ven will not be rushed back into action and could be ruled out until mid-December.

Spurs will be eager to have both centre-backs back as soon as possible as they face eight more matches between now and the New Year.
