Westerlo boss claims Luka Vuskovic is ‘a phenomenon’

Westerlo manager Timmy Simons has described Tottenham loanee as ‘a phenomenon’ after the defender netted a brace from centre-back. The 17-year-old scored twice as Westerlo came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw against Beerschot.

His first goal came just after the hour mark as he used his impressive height and aerial ability to head home from a corner. The defender’s second was very impressive as he drove forward from centre-back showing great feet and after a lot of scrappy play, the ball found its way back to him and he riffled home from close range.

Simons told GVA: “Luka [Vuskovic] is a phenomenon. He is so calm on the ball and sets the pace. He has such good feet for a 17-year-old.”

Luka Vuskovic unhappy with his performance vs Beerschot

Vuskovic spoke very maturely after the 2-2 draw saying that despite his two goals, he cannot be happy as the team conceded twice.

Speaking after the match Vuskovic said: “I can’t be satisfied, we only won one point. We were good, but we need to work more on defence and be more focused. I’m happy that I scored twice, but it’s a shame I couldn’t score more, as I definitely had two good chances.”

The Croatian’s stats in the Belgian Pro League are very impressive and show what an incredible aerial presence he could bring to N17.
