Tottenham trio slammed for Newcastle display
Former Tottenham defender Graham Roberts has slammed a trio of players following the devastating defeat against Newcastle. Spurs conceded four goals against the Magpies in simple fashion, once again halting their momentum.
It leaves the race for a top-four finish wide open, as concerns rumble over the availability of a Champions League place.

Taking to X, Roberts said on the display: “Our 2 centre backs need to take responsibility at corners we have not won one header it’s embarrassing at moment midfield bissouma needs to up his game.”
It comes after a difficult game for Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Yves Bissouma, as the whole team struggled against Newcastle.

BBC pundit questions Ange Postecoglou decision
BBC pundit Pat Nevin has questioned Ange Postecoglou‘s decision to not make changes sooner in Tottenham’s defeat to Newcastle. The manager was forced into one substitution at half-time, bringing off the injured Pedro Porro.
However, it took over ten minutes in the second half for a flurry of other substitutions to be made. “I am amazed Ange Postecoglou didn’t do it [make substitutes] at half-time,” Nevin told BBC Sport.
“He has left it till they are three down and it’s probably too late now. I think Tottenham fans are in a state of shock. Tottenham haven’t played well and have not battled. We will see if these changes make a difference.”

James Maddison top-four admission
Tottenham playmaker James Maddison has discussed the club’s season so far, following the absence of Harry Kane. The striker left last summer to join Bayern Munich, following some impressive campaigns for Spurs.

Despite finishing eighth with the club’s top scorer the previous season, the Lilywhites look set to improve on that in his absence. On this season so far, Maddison told Sky Sports: “The gaffer said it a few times, if you said in the summer this club’s going to finish eighth last season, and then they’re going to lose the best player to ever play for the club in Harry [Kane], then you’d be like, ‘hmm’.
“People start talking about it [being a difficult season]. But I think it always goes back to what the gaffer says about the project and we’re at the start of it.”
