Tottenham once again had to come from behind in their 4-1 win over Aston Villa.
Having entered the game on a high following their win against Manchester City in midweek, Spurs entered the Villa fixture quietly optimistic.
Tottenham’s hopes however were soon dealt a hammerblow when Morgan Rogers netted the only goal of the game in the 32rd minute.
Spurs however would turn on the style in the second-half with Dominic Solanke’s ‘class’ performance playing a huge part in Tottenham’s eventual comeback.
The Lilywhites will undoubtedly be buzzing with their victory but the Villa win may be slightly clouded over by the fact they now top the Premier League charts for a particularly worrying statistic.

Tottenham’s worrying home record
With just one win away from home all season, many may think Tottenham’s problems lie away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – the stats however paint a different picture.
Aston Villa’s first-half goal highlighted a damming statistic for Spurs, with that goal being the 12th time Ange Postecoglou’s side have conceded first at home in 2024 – the most of any team this year.
| Home record in 2024 (Premier League) | |
| Games | 14 |
| Conceded first | 12 |
| Wins when conceded first | 8 |
| Defeats when conceded first | 4 |
The stats above paint a very worrying picture for Spurs, one of which that must improve if they are to qualify for Champions League football.
Leon Osman says Tottenham’s away record is also cause for concern
Tottenham’s tendency to fall behind in games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – has previously been overshadowed by their worrying away record.
Spurs have already lost away from home at Selhurst Park, St James’ Park and the Amex Stadium – with Ange Postecoglou labelling the Brighton defeat as his worst ever as Tottenham boss.
| Tottenham’s away record since 23/24 |

Former Everton midfielder Leon Osman has recently honed in on Tottenham’s poor away record, insisting it must improve if Spurs want to finish in the top four.
“It’s what’s holding them back. Their home record is still relatively good, where they pick up the majority of their points, but if you’re going to compete in the league towards the Champions League positions especially, your away record has to represent that.
“You have to be able to go away from home and be difficult to beat. You show character in those moments and I don’t think I’ve seen him as frosty as that in interviews,” Osman told Optus Sport.
