Tottenham Hotspur are having an eventful season with more ups and downs than a rollercoaster.

Spurs are one of the most exciting sides in the Premier League and have shown they are capable of destroying any opponent on their day.

On the other hand, Tottenham are also capable of falling to defeats against teams that are struggling near the bottom of the table.

However, it’s clear what Ange Postecoglou is trying to do at Tottenham and, with the right support, he can turn Spurs into a consistently fearsome side.

Now, Postecoglou has managed to break a club record in the early stages of the season, putting him ahead of Jose Mourinho and Harry Redknapp.

Tottenham break club record with 27 goals in 12 Premier League games

The record in question is that of Premier League goals scored by Tottenham after 12 top-flight games.

Spurs have managed to score 27 goals from their opening 12 league matches, which is a record in the Premier League era.

Only four times in the Premier League era have Tottenham scored 24 goals or more at this stage of a season.

Two of those returns have come under Postecoglou, with Jose Mourinho also matching 24 in the 2020/21 campaign.

The previous best tally was that of Harry Redknapp in 2011/12 – his Spurs side had managed 26 goals in the first 12 league games that season.

Indeed, the last time Tottenham scored more than 27 goals in their opening 12 league games was all the way back in 1965/66.

That season, Bill Nicholson’s Spurs scored 30 goals in their opening 12 First Division matches.

Tottenham are now a team that many neutrals love, with pundit Pat Nevin saying he loves watching Spurs’ exciting style of football.

With a few more transfer windows under Postecoglou’s belt, he can bring in the necessary strength in depth to turn Tottenham into a team capable of challenging for honours regularly.
